That is why it is very important to use techniques during your setup process to gain objectivity. A driver's car control ability is such a huge part of the overall equation that it is very hard to separate the driver's influence from a setup adjustment. It is human nature to search for cause and effect and many drivers, especially those with a limited knowledge of vehicle dynamics, have a tendency to attribute a perceived change in handling to a setup adjustment where no actual link may exist. These would be items like dampers and toe settings. The items that primarily affect transient handling on the other end of the spectrum have less of an impact on the maximum grip and performance on most tracks. A skilled driver tries to keep the car as stable and close to steady-state as possible so they can better exploit these settings. Not coincidentally, they will also be at the top of the list because they are typically the most important items to focus on to increase grip potential. These would primarily be items like camber, tire pressures, and steady-state balance adjustments like springs and anti-roll bars. In general, the adjustments that affect steady-state handling will have the greatest impact on the maximum grip a car can achieve. The further toward one end of the spectrum you get, the greater an effect a certain adjustment will have depending on its category. All of these create very fast movements of suspension. This could be the transition from one side to the other in a chicane, a big bump in the track, or a quick steering correction of the driver. On the other end of the spectrum would be the fastest suspension movements the car is going to experience. An example of this would be a car in the middle of a long, smooth, constant-radius turn. The far end of the steady-state handling side would be when there is no suspension movement. The easiest way to identify where on the spectrum you are is how fast the suspension is moving. Although we talk about these as categories, they are actually a spectrum. Everything can be customized by the community, including adding new tracks and cars, and a wealth of add-ons are available on-line.Working with several partners, rFactor 2 has been used in hundreds of esport championships all over the world – in particular McLaren’s World’s Fastest Gamer and Formula E.We mentioned this briefly in the last section, but before we go any further it's important to understand the difference between steady-state and transient handling. You can run full 24 hour endurance events and in multi-player mode, driver swaps are also supported. Tracks feature “real-road” technology that changes the grip as more cars drive on it. rFactor 2 supports a full day-night cycle as well as dynamically varying weather conditions such as rain which dynamically builds into puddles. Race against a field of AI cars, or in multi-player mode against others. rFactor 2 features mixed class road racing with ultra realistic dynamics, an immersive sound environment and stunning graphics, perfect for top-level esports and a rich single-player experience. It offers the latest in vehicle and race customization, great graphics, outstanding multiplayer and the height of racing realism. RFactor 2 is a realistic, easily extendable racing simulation from Studio 397. – 1% engine power increase on Le Mans package – 1.5% less engine power on Le Mans package – 2% more engine power on Le Mans package – Normalized front/rear grip for AI to make them closer to FWD – Adjusted AI front tire grip to match RWD lap times – AIGripMult on front tyres to match RWD lap times – Increased AI front tire grip 10% to match RWD cars – Normalised AI front/rear grip to make cars more equal under acceleration out of slow corner – Added 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain cars These updates, though minor, are part of our commitment to ensuring the game continues to offer a solid and enjoyable experience. We’re returning to our roots by refining our legacy content. While we’ve been channelling our energy into some vital projects, including Le Mans Ultimate, we haven’t forgotten the essence of rFactor 2 that all of you love. So what is going on, whats in store for the future, and is the game dying….slowly?įirstly, we want to address the elephant in the room: yes, we’re aware that the anticipation for new DLC content is high, and we thank you for your patience. Whilst it has so much to offer in terms of car physics, handling models etc, it never seems to get the attention of other titles such as iRacing, Assetto Corsa and more.
